— thinking out loud — 2 min read
Hi,
If you are new here or reading it first time,
I am Aman and this safe space is m own metaverse, do check out all the adventures, hope you enjoy your ride :)
As this wonderful year is coming to an end, what better time would be there to talk about unfinished projects/ideas and all the other things I planned to execute this year.
December is always a good month to think about things we could have done.
Video Book [in progress]
Bookmark Chrome Extension → Continue from where you left [unfinished]
Web App to visualize practical applications of code like shopping cart, like button, the most practical set of implementations in the form of a game [dropped the idea]
Web app to find out all the subscriptions of your Gmail id and manage them [not_started]
Newsletter generator using gpt 3 from tweets [unfinished]
Service to contact customer service for people, they just have to text us and explain us the situation **[not_started]
Forum where people can answer questions to specific problems through videos asynchronously. [not_started]
Hell I even made a diary to write down all the cool experiments/projects I wanted to execute:
some had an output and some didn't, looking back at these things now gives me a chance to filter out all such things in the future which I am not completely sure about
No yes. Either HELL YEAH! or no.
All that I can say looking back at these ideas is that all of them are absolutely awesome and I am not sure if I could think about them again a second time.
A rather unpopular realisation that I have had this year, it is that Ideas are dammn expensive and good ideas have a cost.
You are very lucky if you have these attributes, at least I consider you very lucky, trying to find the areas in which these attributes shines the brightest for me has taken one whole year and I am still not sure if such a field exists or not.
Thanks to Open Source 2022 I was able to find one area about which I am somewhat obsessive - content/videos, I am more obsessive and curious about things that serve my specific needs.
AN APP CAN BE A HOME-COOKED MEAL
Short term projects are good, for learning things but I have learned that long term projects which require time as an investment are a hell lot of fun, riding hype trains can be sometimes a good bet and I will continue taking bets and risks but thinking about a year long term project just excites me to the core.
This makes so much sense to me
I am most engaged when working on hard problems that I have not yet wrapped my brain around. - Andrew Kelley
Looking back I am glad that I didn't compromise on fun, I personally think that the feeling of "could have done more" always lingers around and it does no good to think about that, I am personally going with the flow, pivoting in the direction of maximum fun.
This is all that I have been thinking for the past week, Adios folks, it's time to think about unachievable things which I will end up ditching in 2023, until next time or sooner ;)
